This year has been a real blessing for us at anjstudio, no doubt about that. We really never thought that we would be taking the path that we've been diving into as a small web design development studio. We've quickly turned from being a design studio into more of a development one. Most of the clients that we provide our services for include Web Design Studios, Development Agencies, SEO companies and Independent Consultants. We will still continue to provide custom solutions for mom and pop shops, small businesses and corporations regardless.

Why is this important to us, as a now small web development studio? We've come out with some great plugins, modules and more importantly ideas...that we would not have been able to unless it was for this diverse course of action for our business. Our brand has always been "Turning Ideas Into Reality" and we are starting to see a churn of great ideas slowly becoming reality for our clients.

We've been fans of WordPress for quite some time, but this year we really took focus and starting to implement a new Content Management System that many have not heard of, ExpressionEngine. ExpressionEngine is a true CMS at heart, which I'll fully get into and describe the benefits and security at a later date.We're still torn 50/50 when we implement which CMS to utilize on a website, however it pretty much comes down to what does our client want to utilize? Most of our clients have harnessed the simplicity, flexibility and power of ExpressionEngine and that's what we mostly use.

Okay, enough with the battle between Content Management Systems, let's talk about the fun, juicy stuff. Because of this recent "glitch" that we call it, we've had the opportunity to develop some pretty cool plugins and modules for both Content Management Systems's that haven't been done before. Let me run down the list real quick and speak of these cool additions that we've created.

WordPress

Private User Page - Private User Page is a plugin that allows you to assign a user to a page, so that the page would be accessed only by that user. View assigned user per page, remove them and also set which page non-authorized access will see when accessing that page. You can also create users directly from the plugin's settings or upload a csv to add multiple users at once.

You can also create a page, let's name it "Private Access Only" so in case your private page shows up in the menu navigation and someone unauthorized clicks on it, the "Private Access Only" page will show. This is a setting that can be configured in the Settings tab within the plugin - you would just need to type in the Page ID for that particular page.

Another awesome feature is the ability to add a user/password combination directly from the plugin. This feature is tied to the wp_user table so you can further manage the user's settings within the Users section in WordPress. Last but not lease, we also added the ability to upload a CSV file and create multiple users at once. The CSV template, which we included as a link within the plugin's settings, will allow the following fields: user name, password, email, first name, last name, website.

Authorize.net - We really didn't find a simple solution to having an online donation system for WordPress so we created one. It's very simple and the plugin is just 1 file, all you do is enter your login credentials into the settings area and populate the email template that both the customer and admin will receive.

WordPress IMDB Movie Plugin - This plugin was developed towards the beginning of the near and a lot of new features will be rolled out in the next few weeks. What this plugin allows you to do, is to populate your WordPress Movie site with data from IMDB. There are a lot of features and not enough space to list them all. ExpressionEngine

Authorize.net - This is pretty much the same as our custom plugin for WordPress, but it's for the ExpressionEngine platform. Users will be able to set their login credentials in the plugin settings and use a custom tag to populate the form into a template of their choice.

Quick Edit - We had a few projects where the end-user wanted a way to edit a template, image or entry by clicking a link on the frontend without logging in and navigating to that section. There are a few plugins that do this for EE 1.6 but not for the latest 2.1 version - so we decided to create one. The logged-in user will only see the link and is dependent on their user permission settings.
